Xsara brake noise

No squeal from brakes in normal braking on the open road but at times, for example, when reversing in driveway and braking to check for traffic(Ok I know I should reverse into drive but I do have clear view on both sides) I get a harsh sort of noise coming from brakes. Is this something I should get checked by experts?.Car has few months of warranty still to run,so another question I hope someone can answer for me,would warranty cover this type of fault?? I would appreciate any help with this.

Is it regularly serviced? Could be low pads. They wouldn't be covered by warranty as they're classed as a "consumable".

Oddly enough I get a rubbing noise with my Xantia brakes first thing in the morning. These are brand new (well ok, 6 months old) pads and discs so it's not a low pad thing in my case. I suspect that in my case it's rust or something because it seems worse after a wet drive the night before.

Thanks for replies.Car is not yet three years old and I dont do a lot of mileage(one of the retired classes)but it is mostly in town so it could be low pads.Service is due soon so will get them checked then.
