Y reg Shogun Classic Diesel starting problem

Wifes car would not start the other day. Took booster box, started first time {her batt not flat though] Did a 30mile round trip and blasted it. Drove like a dream all 30m. Following morning, same prob again. No luck with booster box. Mech took a look and could not get it to start [did it as a favour as it is still under warranty] Contacted dealership, they sent out recovery firms mech. He could not fix it. Recovered it to dealership. Rings back following day to say' clogged fuel lines. It is because you have only done 5000k since its last service. Most would have done 9000' Seems odd as the 5000 are not all stop start short runs. There is a motorway run at least once a fortnight. Mentioned this to 2 other s and they reckon the same, and think it is something else. Warranty is out in May and don't want to be fobbed off and find it dies horribly in June.

Any thoughts??

Many thanks

If you only travel low mileages it may be that you still have summer diesel in, this can get thick and clog the lines in cold weather. Other possibility is that you have been putting vegetable oil in.

Winter diesel's "thinner" so it doesn't get waxy deposits in it when it's cold (try putting a bottle of olive oil in the fridge) & clog the filter. But it's slightly less powerfull & effecient so it'sonly sold in winter.

Received some paperwork from the main dealers this a.m and it states

'Removed throttle body and decoked'

I asume that this ties in with the 'carbonisation' that was mentioned previously??

What would cause this? or is it just 'one of those things'?

Many thanks

I would think that the only way a diesel throttle body will coke up is if the engine is blowing a lot of oil fumes into it, certainly light use won't do it.
