Air filter cleaning

I have an after market reusable air filter on my Miata. The cartridge has to be washed and oiled. Can anybody tell me what's involved in this. Thanks ds

Is your filter a foam one, or is it an oiled gauze type eg. red colored K&N. There are different procedures for each type.
