If they're split or cracked, definitely. It's probably a good idea since you've got the shocks off anyway. Mine where in tatters by the time I replaced my shocks.

Yes, you're going to find they are destroyed anyway. Don't use the Mazda factory boots, order new ones with your shocks from the same manufacturer.

Just to let you know the cost of OEM boots, I just picked up front and rear boots from Trussville for my 97's impending KONI installation for $23.16/ea-rear and $23.48/ea-front.

I think I remember aftermarket boots (IIRC @NAPA) were like $15 ea.
