Lack of Zoom

Not long ago I purchased an 02' LS to replace my 93' base. I have aquestion where is the Zoom Zoom that Mazda talks about? My 93' basewith a 5 speed and no AC could zip around OK but was but no means fast!This 02' with the works is an absolute DOG!! When you run the AC it'sabout as quick as a Yugo! This car is supposed to be a sports car?Where's the sport? It sits low and has the ground effects package of arace car without any grunt and even when you whined it up its stillgutless!. I have had all I can do to pull away from old econo boxes fromlights and that's with ringing the motor out to near red line at eachshift. The price I paid for this Sheep in Wolfs clothing could have paidfor a strong V6 coupe or even a V8 Mustang with a power roof and somereal balls under the hood! I hope Mazda is listening because how can youpedal a Zoom Zoom ad campaign less any real POWER!! We all don't live onwinding roads with no cops were we can work the gears to get some speedup, some of us live in the real world of stop signs and stop lights. Ialso hate the six speed transmission because there is no lock out forreverse and six is just to close for comfort to reverse when your makingquick shifts to beat that Hyundai Excel on the freeway! I do plan tovisit my dealer to test drive another car just in case its my lone carthat is a sled but Im sure that not the case. I thought the variablevalve timing was suppose to give the engine more power? I think it mightactually take some away and you can't seem to advance it like you couldthe models without it. Sorry for complaining so much, I love the looksof the cars but just expected so much more in the power and performanceareas.

Wow, it got up to 90 deg's. around the Seattle area today, even hotter on Thursday...... R/H only 42% :-). 100 deg's. just takes darker shades & a good hat !

Not so. Through June this year: Z4: 9865 Miata: 5721 S2000: 4295

BMW sold about as many Z3's, sometimes more, sometimes less, as the Miata over the last few years.

Well, and not using the A/C is a good way to ensure that it won't work when you *do* want it to. Then, or when you want to trade the vehicle in and the dealer can't get it to work and they drop $500 off their offer.

Good point. I try to remember to run the AC for 5 minutes every week, year round, to keep the refrigerant dry and the compressor seals lubricated. So far, after nine years with no other attention, it still works like new. Same thing with my '85 Accord: 18 years without so much as a recharge.
