spark plug wire recommendations

Oct 07, 2003 4 Replies

Hello everyone, I change my spark plugs to Bosch Plat4 and just had them in for about

6weeks, then today one just literally blew up out. Slowly drove it noisly to a shop and with a flash light found nothing in the #2 spark plug, so it really blew up and away. Fortunatly when it blew it didn't strip the threads. The mechanic said the spark plug was probably loose and when #2 sparked it blew it away. So I replaced the spark plug back to NGK-R plugs and got 1 oem wire to get the car back going. The mechanic said he would recommend replacing the OEM spark plug wires.

Now I want to change it so please recommend one. I want to get a better quality, better size. Which one: Accell NGK MAGNACORE What size 8mm or higher?

I don't want to break my wallet either something below 50. Thanks for any and all replies.

Unless you're running forced induction, NGK Blue is more than adequate.

I have the 3 inch cone with a homemade resenating chamber, still go withthe NGK blue?

Since Miata's eat up plug wires pretty rapidly, I took a guys advice about purchasing a set of high quality 'lifetime' plug wires from NAPA. He said he just returns them once a year for a new set, no questions asked. I replaced NGK blues and have not noticed any difference.

Good luck, Chris
