Timing?

I haven't received my shop manual yet, so I'm asking what may seem to be a stupid question. I need to advance the timing on my Miata for the install of my cold air induction. The question is: where do I get 12V for the timing light, since the battery is in the trunk?

There's a handy wire behind the driver's-side headlight that ends in a blue plastic connector, specifically intended for powering timing lights and other diagnostic equipment. It's hot when the key is ON.
