UK Mazda 3 - Engine Management Light

Hello all,

I have a 2007 Mazda 3 Diesel and for the past year, the engine management light has been on. It has been back and forward to the Dealership but they can't find any problems and are continuing to look.

Does anyone else have experience of this or know what it could be?

Thanks in advance,

Jon

Time to start making phone calls and getting it fixed. The dealer is obviously fobbing you off because it's not profitable to properly investigate and clear the fault.

Ask them to organise a meeting with the service manager and a Mazda rep. Be prepared to leave the car with them for a few days.

Deos it have a particulate trap? Could the burn-off cycle have failed? This seems to be quite common on the latest diesels.

Yes - they are either electrically heated or something clever is done with the fuelling, and hence combustion temperatures, to periodically burn off the soot. If this isn't done, the exhaust gradually clogs up. Modern diesels make a catalysed petrol engine look quite simple.
