High Idle

can't get the idle to come down lower than 1500 rpm.. I belive that the engine is still original. a 77 MGB. also has a miss. Changed the Plugs , Rotor Distributar Cap and Plug wires. no changes occurred.

Its sucking air somewhere.

Make sure that the points and timing are correct. Check that the vac advance is not sucking air.

Check to see all hoses to the inlet are on or are not split.( sucking air.) Pollution hoses off?? PCV valve ?? etc.

Then get the carburetors set up and tuned - could be sucking air whether it be the butterfly's being opened or air being sucked through the spindles.

May also be through the inlet manifold gaskets. Squire some oil around to seal it and see if the revs drop or smoke comes out the exhaust.
