here is a list or rant on what i think is crap about MGF's.
If left on the drive for more than 3 weeks battery goes flat. Intermittent ticking from the engine, sounds like valve gear trouble but when i browsed the service history i noticed that an £1100 investigation was carried out by the Rover dealer under warranty to investigate said tick 2000 miles from new, they found nothing wrong & it still does it 61000 miles later. Fired her up after 6 weeks & took her out for a Sunday run, got 3 miles down the road & spotted a puddle of coolant at the front...Radiator rusted away, not had radiator problems since the days of Ford Cortina's. Something wrong with exhaust or catalytic converter, a loud rattling sound that ceases once engine has reached a good running temp. Uncomfy driving position with limited adjustment, plasticky dials, noisy, bulky, inefficient & badly placed air-con unit, crap brakes, poor gearshift, scuttle shake, noisy ride. Do yourself a favour & get an MR2 or MX5. Regards, K.
