Aux Lighting.........

Has anybody installed or know of anyone that has mounted any other sets of driving lights on their Mini's? I'd like to put a nice big set of PIAA's or Hella's on my MCS since the factory optional ones are a little smallish....... and expensive.

Thanks,

Bob

has a nice set-up; light/badgebar and several selections of lights. I bought an early set-up for myS and it didn't fit. They eventually changed it to match the mods I'ddone and sent me a retrofit kit. Nice set-up. Takes a minimum ofseveral hours to install. I put on three lights, driving lights oneither side of a single fog light. When I want to move somebody out ofthe passing lane, sequential flashing of:the headlights with factory fogs, brights, Moss driving lights, and Moss fog light really seems to get their attention.

PIAA makes a driving lamp kit specifically for the MINI. Installation is straightforward. Brackets are attached to the underside of the hood and extend through the grill slats - lamps are bolted to the brackets. A pretty stable setup. Power is drawn from the battery (or the remote

  • terminal on the MCS). Wires extend into the car through the grommit by the brake booster and connected to the prewired switch.

The PIAA pat number os 5430. Their description is "Two 540 Xtreme White driving lamps, two mounting brackets, two mesh style covers, wiring harness, relay, switch, and mounting hardware".

Price is much more reasonable than from the dealer. List price is $299. Turner Motorsport is selling them for $249.95. I found a set for my MCS on eBay for $195 + shipping - search for PIAA 5430 or PIAA Mini.

If you go to

?product_id=5430you'll see a picture of an MCS with the lamps installed, as well asmore details on the kit. Good luck.
