99 eclipse RPM and brakes

Nov 12, 2003 1 Replies

hiyall,

i have a 99 mitsubishi eclipse RS autotransmission with around 50800K miles on it. I have been following a mostly regular maintenance schedule. Recently the foll. has been happening -

  1. On idling, the RPM shown is less than a 1000 (around 700-800)...I am pretty sure it used to be > or = 1000 previously. Whenever its at this RPM, I can feel a kind of vibration (kind of a shudder) that passes thru the body. It feels as if the engine mite just give up any moment. Where shud i look for any problems?

  1. On applying the brakes when at a slow speed (e.g. to stop for a signal light), the car does not come to a smooth stop, it has a jerking movement before stopping. However I dont see any problem when suddenly applying the brakes. Is this due to the brakes / brake fluid or some other transmission issue?

TIA, D
