Check Engine Light - EGR issue '01 Eclipse Spyder

Dec 28, 2005 2 Replies

Hello,

My check engine idiot light keeps coming on - code as checked from Autozone says EGR valve flow issue.... I took out the valve, cleaned it off... checked the valve operation.. seems to be working okay..

Any ideas?... it comes and goes... went for about 2 weeks in the working state, now back to "check engine" on again. Think it might be the diverter valve?....

Thanks!

Did you check the vacuum lines? They can get clogged with all the carbon too, plus they crack. I have a 92 GT and it's EGR valve is still working quite fine.

Good advice on the vacuum lines. Also make sure the EGR valve does work as if this is vacuum operated there can be a small pinhole that can cause it to lose vacuum and not function correctly so it may need to be replaced. Plus check the manifold passage way as well as it too can get clogged.
