Hi All:
Just to let you know that my Galant is now super smooth again. The harshness I complained about after my Mitsubishi main dealer replaced my timing belts has now been cured. Despite a botched second attemp to fix it, in the end I had to resort to a friend of mine who is an ex-mechanic to do it right. Stwart Dibbs & others in this newsgroup told me they had probably not aligned the oil pump which is connected to the counterbalance shaft. This was indeed the case.
As soon as the job was done correctly, it was immediately apparent just by blipping the throttle. Well done & many thanks to all who took the time to help.
Oh one thing which might be of help to others, a Mitsubishi Technical guy said that the problem of going into limp mode was due to the crankshaft & camshaft sensors getting out of synch. This can be cured by disconnecting the batter for at leasr 20 minutes.
Thanks all
John Lewis
