i believe i have blown the rear main seal on the motor. the car does not leak from the top of the motor and it really does not leak at idle. however, if i bring it up off idle and let the oil pressure rise then look under the car i can see a leak. it looks like the oil is coming out of the bell housing or the area at the edge of motor, between the trans. (auto) and motor. the question is: can i do this at home?
is there anyone that has this documented with good pictures? also, it appears that the tranny comes out the side of the car. is it heavy and can i gently let it down to the floor? special tools?
