Whats this like as a standard car and also what can be done to improve?

I was checking these out recently and they are in insurance group

Nice looking, but I think that the big engine is going to spoil the handling (after all it's fiat tipo based). To keep the look but improve handling and performance I'd get a twinspark model and transplant the 16v turbo out of the older Fiat Coupe. 300bhp quite possible if you speak to Barry at evolution engineering, plus you get viscodrive LSD in the Fiat coupe's gearbox. Plus the coupe's Lampredi is well proven and eminently tunABLE, if not as tuneFULL as the alfa offering.

Oh and if you manage to find an old Dedra integrale or Alfa Q4 you could quite possibly transplant the 4x4 system in... in some countries there was a fiat tempra 4x4

lotus elise is group 18, i'd rather have an elise to be honest :)
