Yes. Around £7 for a cheeswire type affair to around £15 for one that's like a T handle with a blade on the end.

Like I said though, it's the skill that's the issue.

You get exactly what you pay for in regards to paintwork...........but obviously its not worth spending a lot of money on a car that is not really worth a great deal.

Window does need to come out to do a 100% job, but in this case you are being told that so the painter is able to justify charging you more money.

Compounding will work if its a non metallic colour and the surface of the paint has oxidised, however if its COB or metallic then it will need paint.

Best thing to do would be to leave well alone, unless you can bear driving it with a faded tailgate!

I paid £40 for a removal/refit of a leaky screen, though same company did quote me £60 six months earlier though. It was two people spending about 90 minutes, it was a Chevy Caprice which they had never done before so I did get a good deal really. They warned me that it could break but well over half the bonding had come away with the paint so I knew there wasn't much risk really. They peeled the rest of the loose top coat off and re-bonded it onto the primer.

Mine are reportedly £800 and the dealer has to do it...
