Car unmodification

I've just taken the lock stops off Vamps BMW. It actually turns corners now.

The wheels don't rub, although the rear edge on full lock is only about

2mm from the arch liner, so I guess that's the problem. It has 215s on
8.5" rims, the absolute minimum you can fit, so putting 225 or bigger on (it has 225s on the back) will definitely rub without spacers.

Oh well, I guess I'll keep putting 215s on, unless anyone has some 5mm or so BMW spacers lying around?

If it's not rubbing heavily, I wouldn't worry about it. My 325i used to rub at full lock, the T5 rubs at full lock.. it's not a major issue.

Certainly not worth putting the wrong tyres on a car to avoid, IMO.

Yeah, but just rubbing got Vamp MOT fails on it.

That was the issue.. but with 215s it doesn't rub. With 225s it would.

It is nice to have more than half-lock available though...

yeah one of the little things that annoyed me with that car, tried several MOT places and all failed it even though it only just touched! when i got the lock stops put on it failed again but not for rubbing because a ball joint (i think it was a ball joint was a few months back now) was broken and the ball joint was lose and my mate was concered it could make the steering fail. not the kinda s*it you want to happen when selling a car so got it done.

on a lighter note i found the bill for the engine build if your interested mate
