Cheap Tat for the Commute

In news: snipped-for-privacy@individual.net, DervMan decided to enlighten our sheltered souls with a rant as follows

She's right too! Imagine trying to palm someone off with a nasty lil four pot instead of a V8.

Derv, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Can i have an exemption on the bicycles cos i can't ride them, and spend money on nitro RC cars instead please sir :) ?

(monster truck will be arriving shortly to replace the buggy ;) )

Actually, if the engine mounts are solid, Oh yes they do.

Give her a few months running a 5.0 V8 at UK gas prices....

Hey chicks dig saabs (apparently)! That unique turbo burble is quite seductive y'know...

My wife had one of those. Pretty uninspiring to drive but it never missed a beat and cost f*ck all to run. Her dad had one as well and he has done 100k miles on it with 2 services. Thing still runs like clockwork.

Ditto Mason's post.

If you want a cheap commuter, then you want a French Derv.

405, 406, Xantia, BX, ZX, etc. etc. there are loads about, they last forever, don't rust, and cost pennies. You can't go wrong !

Well, heh, except I'd lose 50% of my friends! :)

You're wrong, and you're ginger.

You've only got two friends and one's Tim S Kemp?

I'm only wrong to you, but it's irrelevant, since you ignore lots of the good bits of advice the collective we give you! :)

You mean I'm not your only one?

Like "Buy a s**te old alfa" and "Buy a ford"?

You DID buy a Ford ! An old Ford at that !

Don't ever buy a s**te old Alfa, is the advice that I would give.
