It seems that from my time doing the shopping over the past 9-12 months Clio prices have steadied and the 147 GTAs have still got cheaper. I haven't looked at 156s because I'm not old. I could probably sell the Clio privately, buy a nice GTA and still have a grand or two left over. And the Alfa would be newer heh. Although having done some research I fear this front driveshaft carnage problem that seems to be common...

Because it's cheap !

Not so much these days, but a few years ago there was a massive opportunity to pay off huge chunks of debt by moving from the Home Counties to South Wales.

The price gap has since narrowed significantly, and equivelent houses around here and in Milton Keynes are now within £10-£20k of each other, rather than the £60+k gap there was a few years back.

At the risk of drifting even further off topic, comparing house prices between South Wales and Milton Keynes really isn't doing your argument any favours, not exactly desirable locations are they?

don't be silly, GTA or V6 Clio the clio clearly wins, for a start it looks a lot better. and second the right wheels are powered by the engine which is also in the right place too.

Depends on what you want.

If you want a sportscar, the Clio would be your choice. But there are many other (better) sportscars for that kind of money.

If you need 4 seats and a half decent boot (as most people do), then you wouldn't be buying the Clio.

The Alfa has a nicer engine, but the Clio is definately more of a drivers car, and judging from Dan's example, the Clio appears to be very reliable.

I have a short in the rear light that makes the brake light flash with the indicator some times if that counts as unreliability? Wiggling the wire cures it hehe. It really needs a new little plug thing on the end, so I'm taking it to a man tmrw. I realise I could probably fix it - but I'm scared and I like getting bits of paper to put in my history folder. But that's the only fault and it is over 6 years old now.

I have the Vee because I can't afford a Zonda/F430/F40. I'm not ashamed :-)

The 156 is 9 this year and has yet to break down.
