Coloured sump

Why?

Mine's sort of black and silver with a combination of wet and baked on oil.

Why not? Just for fun (if cheap). The sump is visible from both sides of the car.

Had two AlfaSuds and a 164 V6.

A "Damn" good clean, then any engine paint. Engine "enamel" is available cheaply from your local motor factors in lots of splediferous colours :)

Is this on that fecking Sierra?

You can do it yourself but you willneed to thoroughly degrease it before you start. Then use a decent etch primer to get a good key for the paint. Then use any chip-resistant finish. Personally I'd prefer to have a polyurethane two-pack finish which would mean getting someone else to spray it. But you could get an acceptable and long-lived finish with plastikote. I've used it over an etch primer on several alloy bits in the past with decent results.

As the resident VW liker, I feel duty bound to tell you to polish it to a mirror finish. Then chrome the floorpan.
