Must not get carried away, too late! Just added something else to the fleet (hopefully as it's a new seller). I just hope "she" is as good as the seller makes out.

Dunno about you, but ebay satisfies all my reservoir encapturement needs.

No, a reservoir is what you get when you dam a river.....

So, surely that's 'river encapturement needs'

Before it's encaptured, it's a river.

HTH.

though I don't have room for 2 cars and "Can only drive one at a time" as she keeps telling me. Fairly local, nice and cheap, appears very solid, but needing some TLC. And one of about 50 left registered.

Seems OK, and probably even closer for me.

WTF? It looks like the inside of my s**te old Volvo 340, but it was made in

1988. The outside looks even worse. And he's asking stupid money for it. You could get an equally tatty something alright for that money, something you can buy parts for in the UK and everything.

I don't think you can really call it 'silly money'....

The design inside and out is from the 70's.

Yes, you are right, stupid money indeed. Haven't seen one that cheap with any ticket for about 3 years. Being one of only 50 left registered put the price up.

Underside looks a little flaky/crusty but no worse than a lot of cars and not rotten, got photos from the owner.

Thing is, the "recent MOT" expires in October according to the owner.

It is when you consider that you could buy a tatty MkII Golf GTI for that kind of cash.

I actually quite like the Skoda Rapid. But it would have to be absolutely immaculate for me to consider spending that kind of money on one.

You can probably get it for £300, hell even at £400 I spent more than that on an RC car :-D I'd imagine as a project to cut your teeth on mechanics wise, it's probably very good - basic, easy to work on etc. Although I have no idea what parts availability is like...

Since the VAG takeover, most parts appear to be made of unobtanium.

what you can't get from Skoda you can usually find=20 in

If the carb wears you can either fit a ford based Weber with a rejet (bolts straight on) one for the autograss racers uses a 38DGAS from a 3=20 litre capri on his 1.3 rapid, or get a manifold from CZ using our "man=20 on the inside"

He even owns a real 130LR group B=20from the Ulster Rally. John Haugland keeps hassling him to sell it. Another option is to megasquirt a Felicia lump (one of the Sko-forum guy=20 road rallyies his, or fit a Jenvey throttle body and ecu, and fit that=20 using the original sump and oil pickup.

And if you need body panels?

Only in the UK. But there is a very good specialist. and a lot of engine=20 parts are the same as early carbed favorits. Suspension/brake parts have=20 motorsport equivalents, and repair panels can always be made.

I've had a car that was similar for parts supply. A new pair of (bolt on) front wings would have cost me almost as much as a paid for the car.

As I said, a 400 quid Rapid would have to be immaculate for me to risk it.

It looks OK. One of the Sko-Forum/Retro-rides guys is going to have a look, and as he saw it first, I guess he gets first dibs.
