Didn't know there was an Alfa 145 TD?

Sounds like we missed on a gem then, even if it was rough cut.

Maybe. The Tempra and Tipo was very competitive until you assess the noise, vibration and smoke aspects. Now if you like your diesels "classic" they're absolutely perfect ;-) but if you prefer them a little bit more discrete, best to look elsewhere.

Bad points for these two are the digital dashboards, even if the Tempra's boost gauge was quirkily cool.

Ok, one /small/ factor to consider. The Barkas is the one with the Wartburg engine as standard, but mine is a B1000/1 which is blessed with the VW Polo motor - unless a really clean B1000 pops along for the same cash.

I also have a tidy Scirocco with an excellent 1.8 carb motor...

For a rear engined car, this is a front engined van. An Estelle exhaust would have to be routed just behind the drivers seat. Would be slightly silly.

Barkas is front engined though, and not a Skoda.

Scirocco engine free, am keeping it on CZ plates so no road tax, MOT every two years [1], and EU wide insurance including UK is £52.00 any driver, 12 month green card, per year...

is a Barkas. The Golf is rather nice. '83, Black, 1.8 GTi, original 13" alloys, new suspension (standard) all round, converted to hydraulic tappets, working MFA, tints (factory ones, not pimpglass), restored over the last few years, been back on the road for 12 months or so, needs a couple of very minor jobs doing, senders for the oil temp gauge and oil pressure gauge re-fitting and a new washer motor (which the Scirocco has).

Wasn't it an orange light that merely came on when there was boost?!

Only in the early ones.

I had one around 10 years ago and it had normal gauges. Complete with boost gauge - which always went way into the red. Reckon it had been fiddled with.

The Tempra TD had a range of blue / white illuminated blobs.
