you either buy a runner or you don't engine builds start from £3k upwards (Millington do the best engines for these and a full spec one costs the wrong side of £32k) everything else is just about performance Silverstone for ford fair and they use Audi TT 3.2 V6 things and this cossie was eating them up (these are the cars that they drive round to show you the lines, braking points, etc and are driven by people who know the track) the car only had about 350 brake which is easily attainable without a rebuild for the best part of a grand and pound per brake, there isn't another car like it pant wettingly scary, and yet ridiculously addictive :)

I was disagreeing with doojj statement that 'i got fully comp on everything i've driven even if i was paying over the cost of the car' coz in my case its simply not worth it. if i had a slightly less disposable one then things would be different, but i wasnt talking about that

which is fair enough in your case but I need a car 24/7 that can take 5 in the east I would have had to take the estate, and it's fuel problems (like it was using lots) if we wanted to go out the racket it made was deafening to say the least :) but if you are on your own and want to have a car to get you from a to be and then dump it at the end of the day you want to spend as little as possible on it :)

And that is why you're with them. If they quoted you £500 over the going-rate, then you wouldn't consider using them - irrespective of all the above.

Very true, but none of the others are even remotley interested. Being quoted £1300 for a £90 Skoda Estelle TPF&T, or £1800 for a £300 Saab 900 FC isn't exactley trying to win business. Especially when they all tell me I won't find a better company, cover, or quote (or all three).

But there are plenty of people with super-cheap cars that it will apply to. Not everyone is as well off as you and so cant afford expensive cars or expensive insurance. As i said i was disagreeing with dojj's way of doing things. Fair enough if thats what he wants to do, but theres no way i would pay out for FC if the difference was more than the car was worth.

high performance cars are high maintenance...in the cossie price bracket at least. it's soething you accept as part of the hobby.

But they aren't equally priced - any Impreza you can pick up for a few grand is gonna be *very* tired.
