FS: Alfa 75....

Unfortunately, my cherished 75 2lt TSpark failed it's MOT test yesterday.

The car _looks_ OK, but underneath needs some work.

The list is as follows:

Both rear arches corroded where the meet the sills Offside front lower arm mounts NSR coil spring snapped One tyre is cut to the cord, but I have a spare in the garage.

Those jobs *have* to be done to get her roadworthy.

We also had 'advisories' on the following:

Front floorpans need plating

The rear arches, especially nearside rear could do with work under the plastic trim.

However, the engine is sound (serviced within the last 500 miles) The gearbox was expensively rebuilt last year New clutch within the last 10k miles.

These pictures were taken a while ago, I don't have any current ones, but when she's cleaned and polished she still looks pretty much like this:

I'll try and get some current pics. this week.

If anyone feels they can rescue her, she's located in Ystrad Mynach (1/2 hour from the Servern Bridge) and I'm open to offers. The engine and box are worth having at least, as is the interior which is very clean and tidy.

The current MOT runs out in 3 weeks, so she can be driven away currently

- although I'd be very careful due to the snapped spring.

She's not a basket case, far from it, if someone with a bit of time were to get out the welding kit an MOT could be had in an afternoon - I neither have the time or the knowledge to do it.

I hope someone can get her back on the road.

I'd do it myself, only we picked up a bargain 156 TSpark on Monday.

33s do a bit. 155s don't. 164 phase 2 don't.

The 75 was the first one to get any sort of rust prevention. They partially galvanised them, however, it's 16 years old, and wouldn't cost a hell of a lot to fix, but we were thinking of changing it for a 156 now they're cheap, so did that instead.

Sorry to hear it, but *now* do you believe me about Alfas and rust?

OK, so assuming that the MoT it failed isn't a pre-MoT, I thought the minute the car fails another test, it is not roadworthy.....regardless if there is a "current" ticket ??????

Technically, I suppose, but there's an MOT certificate for it that would satisfy a roadside 'producer'.

It's not roadworthy from the moment it fails to be roadworthy - Certificate is irrelevant other than showing it's been inspected once in a year.

What he said. Although I'm not sure what's gonna happen when/if the whole computerisation thing comes in. The Police will/should have instant access to all the MOT records. I suppose it'll just be easier for them to do you for an unroadworthy vehicle even though it's still got a current ticket.

The importer was on the case from, IIRC, '82 - both my mum's Guliettas and the GTV6 had Zeibart stickers and associated corrosion warranties and they did seem less soluble...
