Wonder if you can apply clear lacquer directly over rust ?
That would be cool - keep the rust just where it's at right now.
I think the ratlook VW guys use a barrier wax or even just diesel rubbed into the flat paint and rust patches.
It does have that proper aged look doesn't it.
