The only reason they top mounted them is so the rally cars
You obviously dont watch much Rally then if you think they use top mounts. have you seen the size of the front mounts used on the subaru cars there fecking huge!!!
You can see it through the front grill on this picture

What he said, but I'd also try out a water spray system first - you can lash up a test system yourself in half an hour for a few quid. They can be _amazingly_ effective on a hot intercooler.

Well, the Filter is on order from Funky Products along with an airmeter adaptor.
If you see how the IC is on a GT4 (and how it's an air2air) you will see that any IC front mounted, plus some lagging on the turbo pipe work will make a huge difference to temps. I'm doing those first, then a Decat on the standard system and then a 2.5" rather than 3" system, to keep the little bit of restriction necessary to keep low end torque, rather than have it all at the top end using big turbos and huge drainpipe exhausts.

I did think about it, but space is tight as it is and the Sainz model ECU is different and monitors and controls the Charge cooler, so I need to locate a new ECU at the same time.

Yeah, I was wathcing the Irish Rallying last night and realised just that, if they front mounted and protected it properly, it would cut all the air flow to it anyway.

OH, I have a lowerly slopey bonnet and slam panel, and I going to cut all that away to get in an IC. Nope don't think so.
I think it might be better to find a Carlos Sainz bumper, but I'm keeping costs down as usual.

Now they do. Back then they didn't. Cases in point Nissan Gti-r, WRX and GT Four. I guess the Lancer showed them how to do it.

Was at my mates tonight and he bought a half cut group A Rally from Japan. Cost him Aus $3500 delivered. Thats about 1200 Quid. Not too bad. Someone offered him $1500 for the water/air intercooler.

Get a Jap front cut. Take the bits you want and sell the rest on as parts. You might even end up making money on it.

No the G40 and G60 have air to air intercoolers. Or are you talking about the old Judson kits for the 36hp flat 4s?

Unfortunatley no room or facilities to store the remains till it is gone.
Doubt there is profit to be made, as in the UK Scrap men charge to take away any remains too.

Then put any of the remains on ebay, with a 99p start price, stating clearly that the buyer must collect. A mate of mine did this with a 205 1.9 GTI. Bought the car for the price of the wheels with good tyres (£70), and sold loads of bits off it - made about £400 out of it. Then sold the shell (still had the engine in there, but with things like K+N induction kit etc missing) for 99p no reserve on ebay. He got 99p for it, and someone collected it. He could have taken the engine out and flogged that separately, but he couldn't be bothered.

Good point, but I reckon she would still kill me If I turned up with=20 half a car leaking everything over her back yard LOL (I only pay the=20 mortgage but it's her back yard).

Yep. Done deal on Ebay.
And I have already been offered =A370+postage for it from another GT4OC=20 member.
Will see how it looks and fits and think about it.

Yeah - that's the route you should take.
Don't bother spending money on induction + exhaust. It'll make bugger all difference !
There's already *more* than enough restriction in the exhaust, from the Turbo itself.
Decat is a pain in the arse, cos you'll have to swap it back every MOT.
Save your money, or spend it elsewhere !

Yep, but reducing the back pressure beyond the turbo it will lessen the=20 restriction that the turbo causes. Decat/downpipe is =A3180 is from HSR+ labour to fit. Cheaper is to soak=20 everything in sight in plusgas, then remove the old cat, wear a face=20 mask, and take a length of coathanger in an electric drill and destroy=20 the innards. The refit. Doesn't flow as well as a proper Decat, but a=20 damned site better than stock.
Not in a 1990. It can be left the garage or a skip as far as the MOT=20 guys care.=20

The age of the vehicle doesn't matter so long as it passes the emissions tests you can remove the cat. It's a lot easier to pass emissions tests on a pre K plate car. (Dam my late G40 on it's K plate.)

Granted. I was thinking yours was a 1993 car, for some reason :)
