Insurance Again

Bit rough this one.

Girlfriend had a very small accident in Feb this year, bumped another car from behind in traffic. No damage to either car. Stops and exchanges details etc etc, and the third party says she wants to get her car "checked" even though it is obvious there is no damage.

Gets a phone call from the insurance company a few days later and admits fault but makes it very clear there is no damage to either car.

She's just got her renewal quote through and it's doubled from last year, and is showing 0 years NCB. Phones up and it turns out the insurance company paid out for repairs to this other persons car, and never even notified her!

Amazing, IMO.

Damage caused by a light rear end shunt may not be immediately obvious. Panels behind a bumper can get bent, even when the car appears to be undamaged. My guess is that such concealed damage is what was found when the car was checked.

Does seem a bit off, but maybe because she admitted liability, her insurance Co didn't think it necessary. Not that that is an acceptable excuse IMO. Mike.

Correct. That was easy, wasn't it?
