Is there something I've missed?

Nah, they're just getting old and aren't as well known/popular as like, Golfs and stuff. Isn't it a Mk3 in Seat clothing? I quite like them anyway, you so have to get one in a loopy colour though, like the Lime Green and white wheels they were available in, they seem reasonably common, along with yellow and various others. I just discovered on Pistonheads, the green is called Kiwi Green :-).
Most under a grand seem to be a bit sheddy though, this one is best one I found on PH for £1k or less -

Some very tidy ones have gone for naff all on Ebay lately - some one owner cars, some with a lot of history etc. The Ibiza is a mix of Polo, MK2 and MK3 GTI parts as far as I know - but IIRC a lot of MK2 and Polo parts are interchangeable.

Ah I never thought to check ebay - I can never see myself buying a car off the bay hehe :-) Although, I'd go and deal outside eBay for sure I guess, no difference to buying privately. I looked on auto trader and PH, and I must say, there was some serious tat advertised.

I suspect that Autotrader and PH suffer from ridiculous asking prices at the minute. It seems anything small can fetch a mint, whilst bigger stuff goes for f*ck all. 1999 Rover 75s seem to go for around £800, whilst I saw a 205 Diesel on the bay for £670 odd!

Yep, that's pretty much it. Mostly a mix of Polo/Mk3 Golf. I had a Ibiza TDI- Golf MK3 TDI engine/gearbox/front suspension, Polo dash, for a start.

Is that the mid 90s era one with the 2.0 lump? There's one on Retro Rides for £450 - if it was nearer I'd be quite tempted actually.
