Lotus Calibra

A standard Cavaliabra has a transverse engine with a transfer box at the front diff, like a Golf Syncro or similar FWD to AWD conversions. I think that the centre diff is in fact at the back, ahead of the rear differential; that's the common arrangement with these systems.

This is a RWD conversion putting the platform and running gear of the Lotus Omega into a Calibra bodyshell, performed by a German tuner famous for producing nuts cars, like (IIRC) the Porsche 911 engined Mk 1 Golf GTI that could lift the rear of the body to show off the engine to cars it passed.

I'm saying i've heard of it but never seen it done, also I think a fiat panda 4x4 box can be used because it is supposed to have a more durable transfer mechanism than the Vauxhall item o_0 but its just hearsay and mig have quite a few people who seem to make things up...

I wonder why.

You don't say, after all they used the panda 4x4 on the space shuttle because of its strength.

Bwahahahahaha.

Your fuckwittedness has plummeted to new depths now.

I assume you've never driven an original Panda 4x4. The 4x4 system is so 'robust' that there's several warnings scattered around the dash about not using it above 20mph.

(I used to get one as a loaner from my Wop specialist - his Dedra Turbo was kept for Maserati and Ferrari clients)

Really? Good heavens. I used to switch into 4x4 at 60.

In fact, it was one of the best cars I've ever driven in snow; tarmac, mixed surfaces, and then you get to a stretch which is unplowed - reach down, push the clutch in (I don't really know why I did that, perhaps it made me feel better), *thud*, and carry on like nothing happened. Handling was incredible with decent tread.

Of course, if you used it in anything other than "Oh crap I've got no traction" situations, it wound up and you had to jack up (or just lift) a wheel to unwind the system. Didn't stop me using it on wet days to upset XR2 driving boy racers away from the lights, though.

Do you think you're a bit gullible? Think about it, if you mount an I6 engine transversely in the car then stick a Sierra/Escort Cosworth gearbox onto it, where do you think the propstaft flange is going to be?
