OT: Possibly Free - Hammond Organ

This may appeal to some of the musical lot in here (RichardK? Bob Sherunkle?) - not sure if I've offered this before, but here's the deal:

It's a Hammond Organ - one of the more poverty spec ones - stops instead of drawbars - sounds ok, though some of the contacts inside could possibly do with cleaning - works ok, but occasionally needs a thump to get rid of the crackling, and the occasional notes sustaining when they're not being asked to, but that's almost certainly more a result of it barely being played - when I got it it worked absolutely fine, and it's in the house, so hasn't suffered from damp or anything.

The one particularly good thing about it (IMHO) is that the leslie has a mono input, meaning anything can be run through it. I'm fairly certain I've tested this works, but if this is important I'll make a point of testing that it does. The leslie has a basic two-speed switch, but I reckon someone handy with electronics could easily make it a continuously adjustable speed jobbie, with a pot and what have you.

Anyway, I'm after around the 50 quid mark if I was to sell it, but to be honest if it goes to someone I think I can at least vaguely trust, that might be prepared to let me have it back at some point in the future when I've got my own place, then they could have it for nowt, on the vaguely loose condition that I can have it back for nowt at some point in the future. I'm not even bothered if it's all in bits, and has been gutted just for the leslie, as that's what I'd quite like to see happen to it, but I just can't be arsed right now.

Will need collecting from Berkshire, and will fit in anything of Astra Estate size upwards.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Pete M got there first, but if he changes his mind - YES, I'll give you £50 for it and it'll go to good use too :-)

Tempted, but I'd need to do some work on getting transport organised. The Leslie is obviously the worthwhile bit.

I fix keyboards (just done two Korg Polysixes), so a Hammond shouldn't present me with too many headaches. Other than finding space and not being an organist, of course.

Model number would be dead useful though; you should have my email addy?

I might have your email addy, not sure. Will have a look and see if I can find the model number - I'm sure I've seen it before - it's on there somewhere. And yes, the Leslie's the worthwhile bit, but I should point out it's not some superduper BFO powerful thing, just your boggo standard Leslie as fitted to a poverty spec Hammond. But it's still a Leslie nonetheless.

Would a pair of Keith Emerson style boots or a Rick wakeman cape be included in the deal ?

:-)))

You know, I'm not afraid of a decent drive to go kick someone's arse for getting THAT stuck in my head.

I've just found this from a previous post of mine on google (saved pissing about trying to get to the back of the organ) - here are some more details:

It's a model 9422k, with a 700 series Leslie.

The Leslie has a 9-pin socket (presumably for external control) and a 1/4" jack input to input other sounds into the Leslie.

There is also a switch at the back, near the bottom in the centre that flicks from Reverb on to off.

I know certain female viewers of Top Gear would be interested in a Hammond Organ.

In news:wYqdnX9 snipped-for-privacy@bt.com, Bob Sherunckle waffled on in a semi-interesting fashion, it went something like this;

My head is spinning, like a whirlpool, it never ends.....

At risk of putting the wrong image in people's minds, I'll chuck in some of that super-teeth-whitening toothpaste for when they've finished.....

I used to make regular deliveries to a house where the occupant was called Gladys. I used to sing that song in my little head a lot, thankfully the house wasn't anywhere near where I ever got drunk or she might have stopped being such a regular customer.

Alright, the Leslie isn't a bad one as long as the hardware is behaving. Definitely worth a trip to rescue that.

The model number isn't giving me any info, I'm guessing it's a late

70s-80s LSI model.

I see other people seemed quite keen, but I'll borrow the A-class for a trip down if nothing happens with it soon :)
