Yep, I also hold the dubious record of getting a 1.0 corsa to do a regular run of mine (500 motorway miles) at 32mpg, which my 2.0T volvo will do at 35 (quickly) or 40 (gently).

I change up to get more speed for the corners at the bottom :D Down that straight in the middle you can get some serious pace up, but braking for the hairpin can get an bit interesting....

Aie, Sutton Bank is great fun without the brakes, especially when there's something big and BMW behind you . . . :)
Problem was resolved on the weekend: the dealer didn't refit the shoes properly, so they were rubbing the whole trip . . . we merely accelerated the wear!
New brake bits fitted - car now feels _significantly_ quicker! :) It's like having another engine! :)
No, it's petrol, not a direct injection, intercooled turbodiesel. :(
Yeah - once round the hairpin, you can get some serious speed up. I love that road - on the top bit, before you reach sutton bank, there's NUMEROUS 130mph straights (in the 405 - prolly 150mph indicated in the TI :)
