Noooo! The MkI MX5 was meant to look like a 1960s British roadster - it's just wrong on so many levels to stick a kit on it.

As for the MkII..... that totally ruined the concept, IMHO.

the Mk1 was based on a well quite shitty looking OLD Elan. there aint many

60's cars i like really most looks a bit pants although 60's mustangs were cool and so were old caddy's and pretty much anything with fins :)

I was forgetting - we established you had no taste from your first post to the group:-P

ah huh, it's very unlikely me and you would like the same cars anyway. you think the alfa 75 looks good! i think it looks like the guy designing it had a seizure with a right triangle and a protractor. :)

I do prefer the looks of the MkII - well, the front lights at least.

Each to their own and all that, but FFS don't put a kit on it, if you feel the need to modify it put a V8 in it.

Saw a Mk1 today, I was quite surprised how rusty it was round the rear arches and front lights, guess they really did want to copy British sports cars !

yeah the MK2 with the mazdaspeed kit or whatever the shitty british mazda kit was looks good on 15's as well! i'd like a MK2 1.8 sport with 6 speed box and an LSD but there about £10k for a good one and for that i'd rather go S2000 or MK3 MR2

a guy at work just got 4 points and £150 fine for doing 60mph in a 30mph and he's probably got the most colourful licence i've ever seen!

How old is he though?

And Vamp, when's your court date? I had a feeling it was September 12th??

sept 13th and i didn't go, sent it all off via post as they can't ban you via post which brought me some time to sort myself out. the guy at work was

21 just 2 years younger than me! waiting for my new court letter giving me a date i HAVE to attend to so time will tell.

That's one of the funniest things I've read this month - almost as funny as SteveH's proclamation that his 75 would be too quick for a navigational rally.

But surely that sorta thing is all about speed and acceleration at low speeds, and handling? And as good as the 75 may or may not be, its still a big barge, and is less than a second quicker to 60 than my car.... So, if thats too quick, erm, well thats just disappointing :-)

Big barge? - not so - it's only the same length as a MkI Focus, is narrower and significantly lower.

You don't need 150bhp to do 30mph.

HTH.

You're both missing the point though.

I wonder if a Google search reveals that you reckon the Focus is a barge. :)

Do you understand the concept of average speeds? To average 30 you have to drive quicker than this. Throw in deciphering clues and the driving average is materially higher.

To average 30mph on a series of twisty back roads where you are more than likely to make a wrong turn, or bad route descision can be exciting. Make any sort of mistake and your average speed goes to shit.

In the extreme, I know of roads in the back of beyond, and I'm sure you do too, where it'd absolute lunacy to reach 30mph, let alone average it.

I *cough* know of someone who averaged 60mph travelling from Aberdeen to Fort William via Newtonmore. 60mph might seem quite benign if it was all motorway/dual carrigeway, but consider that 20 or 30 miles of the route is single track and it becomes slightly sillier.
