Oddly enough, my 1995 Cinquecento was rusting in the _middle_ of the tailgate.

Which has what exactly to do with old s***ty MR2's being old and s***ty?????
Steve. P.S. I don't think the RST is TBTSSB, I had £2k liked them, and loved winding the f*ck out of you lot with it! To think I haven't owned the car for nearly two years and its still all any of you go on about is EXTREMELY funny...
It's all about perception.
If you've only ever driven Cinquecento 900s and Fiesta 1.1s, the RS Turbo is going to feel quick.
If, however, you've driven a string of BMW M-cars, then you get in to a V6 Golf, it's gonna be slow.
Because it's what you harp on about!

No it's not..... if I drive a s*it car it doesnt mean an old MR2 is good, and if I drive a good car it doesnt mean an MR2 is good, what car one person drives has f*ck all to do with old MR2s being s**te. Just admit and stop arguing for the sake of arguing.
For the record the 'best' car (IMO) I've driven was a Vanquish, so I think I can make a opinion about an MR2 without using the RST for a baseline. The MR2 doesnt compare with either really, unless you like girlie/gay/hairdresser cars.
I beg to differ here too, apart from when I owned the vehicle and loved winding you lot up, I've never 'harped on about it' alot of you still do, so it constantly enters these threads which really amuses me... If you're honest with yourself about this you will agree also although I know you not going to, heaven forbid! But I know how retentive some of you are so don't just make these statements get your fingers busy and prove me wrong...
Steve.
This is funny coming from the person with 'the best car in the group' written-off, skanky RS Turbo.
At least the MR2 has the proper wheels driven, and a cracking little twin-cam engine.
Would show a clean pair of tyres to any RS Turbo on a twisty road.
Bwahahahahaha....... when did you drive a Vanquish?
So, just tell us again how many owners it had and what the HPI check revealed about it?
Absolutely not. If you're going to make a decent appraisal of something, you need to be able to benchmark it. Otherwise, you're going from a certain "level" of machine to another "level."
And have you driven the MR2 in a similar manner? Otherwise, you can't really compare the two together. Sure, you can ascertain a certain amount of information from road test reports and statistical analysis. But there's no substitution for driving the two cars. Or for that matter, a whole bunch of cars.
Well now that depends on what you want from a machine, though, doesn't it?
The mark one MR2 is a lightweight, mid engined, rear wheel drive coupe. It's not especially quick in a straight line (although it's broadly similar to the RS Turbo), but that's not what it's about. The MR2 has an excellent blend of ride and handling, of poise, traction and grip. It's not a hot hatch, it doesn't bother with rear seats, but instead, it's a machine built to be driven hard. Whereas the RS Turbo is a go faster version of a small hatchback.
Have you quite finished? :) You're awfully defensive all of a sudden . . . and the only one laughing?
ROFL!
ah huh?
and RST's had a better image?
you have a poor sense of humour then...
i never see anyone mention it? i think derv had a tiny mention of it.

When did I drive a Vanquish I think you mean, this was back in January it belonged to my Boss, do you have to own every car you've driven then?
Steve.

You accuse me of not being able to back up my statement of MR2s being s**te yet you make many statements which you cannot prove because they simply aren't true.
Kettle calling the sauce pan.

sorry that should read three including the company car.

My recently sold porsche 924. Not a speck of rust anywhere. Fully glavanised ( unless Firth argues in which case I don't care.) That car is actually 20 year old and has never been shunted at either end the presence of factory stickers on the panels is the usual proof of this. It cost me 600 quid and for the first time in my life, I made a small profit and sold it for 700.
Yours must have been a later 924, then?
ISTR early ones only had the bottom half galvanised.
My 18 year old Civic has very little! but my wallet is also very light :0s
