I can only assume they were 'Chavlights' [TM] and are the same fitment on a 106 and Saxo.

ISTR that you need to change the rear panel and hatch to fit them. Not a bolt on swap, but I suppose it leaves more giro for hacksaw blades and filler.
Did you call the cops?
What for?
He witnessed a crime.
And you think the police would be bothered when he rang them? Do you think they'd even give him a crime number? Doubt it, bearing in mind that if you don't give out a crime number, it doesn't go into the statistics on crime. IE: The less the police do about a crime, the better the govt stats look...
I think someone should form the British Apathy Party.
Problem is, nobody'd bother to vote for them.
The owners of the 106 are probably going to report it though aren't they? Plus SteveH is an eyewitness and could easily have noted the reg of the saxo and the carpark may well have been CCTV'd up.
These chavs could be part of a car-part nicking crimewave nicking parts to order or to sell on ebay, at the pub or a car boot sale.
Everybody should always report crimes like these - if it was your 106 having bits nicked off it you'd hope someone would report it if they saw it. We all have to share this country and it's down to us to help make it a better place as the government is pretty powerless to do so - instead they just keep making everyone's life a misery by bringing in measures that impinge on the everyday lives of honest people, whilst the crims come up with ways of getting around it. Do you think we'd need all this CCTV if there was some kind of community spirit and people looked out for one another?
I'm with fishman on this one; if I saw anyone nicking bits off a car, I may or may not have time to get 'em with the camera, but I'd note the registration of the car they left in.
Of course, they could just have owned the car the parts were coming off, and have left it in the carpark for X reason.

Think I'll bring the Golf next time I'm down your way...

You miss my point. There's no point in reporting it to the police unless you ring them up and say "I've just seen someone nicking some car parts, so I've shot them".
I'm not apathetic. I'm just sharp enough to know that the police are...
Police were called and attended within a couple of minutes.
Reckon they have a good chance of catching them.
I'm sure he did, after all he owns a motorbike and would like to think that someone would call the cops if they saw anyone stealing parts from that. If he didn't then he can't complain next time something of his gets nicked.
"Good lad," I hope they do...
Nice one. I'd say that's pretty strong support for the 'call the plod' argument...
cheers, clive
