whats the deal with the jap G35 skyline. i know it aint in the same league as the R30's thingys with the straight 6's but is the skyline G35 just a 4 seater 350Z? always got me wondering thought i'd ask incase anyone knew...

Same floor pan. Same V6 engine except G35 makes a bit less power. G35 doesn't have as many alloy bits underneath it, so Z is about 100Kg lighter. A few bhp and lower weight gives it slight edge on 0-60 and

1/4. G35 has +2 (claimed to be usable by US under 5' definition of a +2) and a boot. Z is 2 seat only, has a hatch and fixed parcel shelf that's a rear chassis brace + front turret brace.

G35 is saloon car height at 54.8in about 1" taller than BMW M3 but still 3" lower than modern saloons. Late 70's Bluebird 910 1.8GL coupe was lower. Z is 51.8in high, only 1/2" taller than a new 911 but that's still 2" too tall.

So long as you compare to the regular 2.5L single turbo Skyline GT-S it comes up OK.

The 2007 GT-R has been delayed again and is now the 2008 GT-R.

ah reading on the web there are 2 versions of the G35, the saloon as said makes less power (depending on the 2.5 or 3 litre) it's about 220-260bhp respectively. but they do a coupe with the 3.5 V6 out of the 350Z with the same 286bhp (before they upped the current Z to 300bhp i presume) but weigh's in a bit heavier.

can't wait to see the GTR, and i know it's a bit sad to reply to my own post but f*ck all people was replying so i made the effort (eventually) and googled a bit :)
