So that's the Golf gone then

... and I was well on track to getting a little more than I had hoped for when it lunched its passenger side front window. From the sickly sounds coming out of the door, it might well have been a regulator calling time. Of course it had to happen right in front of the guy who bought it, too.

Oh well, after a little renegotiation he still took the car.

Let's see what the tame mechanic has to say about the Alfa next week.

90% chance it's just the plastic clip that holds the window to the regulator that has given way. The window shifts a little and sticks in the seals.

That's for the new owner to find out - I really don't have the time atm to get stuck into something like this so I just knocked some money off the car.

Funny... I once had a similar situation. I'd advertised my car for =A31150. A fault appeared just in time for the guy who came to look at it. As he was doing the test drive and talking about the fault, I muttered that given its appearance "I'd probably take 900 for it"

When it came to negotiations, he said "will you take a grand?"

Of course I agreed immediately. He was presumably concentrating on listening for groans, squeaks and rattles far too much to hear me mention the 900 :)
