God no. Don't get the bonnet at all.
I'm not a fan of the roof-rack, but the way the thing sits is rather wonderful. I love the wheels as well.
Nah :-) Go for it dude! It's only £500 at the end of the day, and it'll always be worth that, even if you break it! And it's cooooool.
As you say, you've yearned for such a beast for as long as you can remember, so do it! Live for the now and seize the day :-)

The rear axle can get a wee bit wobbly and need rebushing, but you can build cars, so axle bushes is no big deal.
