tasteful mod or Chavscum got too wealthy?

Can't decide?

Not sure if that is a genuine Carlsson kit, or the Erubuni C900 bumpers kit.

Looks well put together, but not sure if it looks "right" for a SAAB

900.

Pretty tasteful imo, especially those AZEV rims, they are a great "old" wheel, that will never die.

The colour is a bit garish but still looks nice

Yes, it does look like it has had a lot of money thrown into the right brands, but that doesn't quite make it right still. Can't put my finger on exactley what looks wrong to me. And you are right. Those Azevs do look cool. One of the guys at work has them on his Saab 9000 aero, and they look the nuts.

I think that is what spoils it. If it had been done in a solid colour, or even a pearl black or pearl white, it might have worked rather than in metallic turquiose.

Blacked out windows, expensive mods, Reading = drug dealer ;-)

Pretty taseful overall though, but wouldn't have chosen that blue

That gets my thumbs up, big style... apart from the price.

Like I said to Ronny, I think your right, it is the Metallic Turquiose=20 that runs it for me, that and the particular body kit.

I'm sure that it isn't a genuine Carlsson kit. The Erebuni kit is similar, but slightly different.

900 Carlsson.

the kickout on the rear skirt isn't as pronounced as on the Erebuni kit.

it might be genuine, with just the paint making it look wrong. With those blackouts and Azev wheels, it would look V nice in plain or=20 Pearl black.

And his spelling and knowledge is terrible I mean it has an untinted=20 ront screen and a duel piston dumb valve. If h had put any input into=20 that car himself, he would have known what he was buying.

Oh, and it has a cone filterm but the intake snorkel and airbox looks=20 like it is still there.=20

Aircon is about =A3600+labour to retrofit from "Twostoke2turbo"

If it genuinly has had all that work that he reckons done, then he has=20 spent nearly 5-7k on it.

The box would be about =A31700-2k for a recon one fitted, and the engine=20 has come off, and the drive chain and flywheel pulled. Surprised it=20 didn't get an uprated clutch and lightened flywheel while it was being=20 done. T16/Carlsson/SPG Chargecooler system, 30 BHP Increase, =A3750. Part=20 Number: AEN002A (Bosch Injection) Brakes about =A3300 Gearbox =A31700 Engine rebuild (assuming nothing wrong just checked) =A3400-1k (removal of= =20 the engine and reftting is =A3200+ labour). Momo wheel and gearknob =A3150+ Paint (3k he reckons). Abbott dump valve =A3120 Window tinting =A3300 (guestimate) Stainless-Steel Front Pipe, Two Piece, Accepts Catalyst/Silencer=20 (AEX005), =A3280. Part Number: AEX001B Stainless-Steel Centre Silencer, =A3220. Part Number: AEX002 Stainless-Steel Twin 2.25" Tailpipe, =A3205. Part Number: AEX004

If it really has had all that done. It is probably a very decent car,=20 under that paint.

See my reply to Bigus. If he really has done the work, he will either make huge money, or lose out big time.

I agree. Black bodywork with a lot less black on the windows would look much better imho.

A set of floor mats would make that car look sooooo much better.

Nicely done. I couldn't drive it. That's my "Crashing" colour. Also, I fear for anyone that illiterate looking after such a carefully modified car.

Azev As, though. *WANT*

They'd look perfect on my Supra.

Bodykit is a bit OTT and the colour is terrible.

I'm sure it's not a Carlsson kit, they're a tad more 'subtle', IYSWIM.

And surely a 900 should have a rubber, unpainted spoiler?

If was black, it would be better :)

Actually, I thought the same thing about the kit. And nope, I think it is genuine Carlsson, but looks wrong painted.

I compared it to the Erebuni kit, and the Erbuni has vent slots in the rear bumper, and a larger flick out. The Carlsson rear spoiler should have the full on plastic/GRP whaletail/teatray effect. the originals are very sought after and even copies like Malbrad/Abbott/Erebuni sell for £100-200 depending on condition.

I think it is a genuine Carlsson kit, but just looks wrong in that colour. Saab 900 Carlssons were never subtle, they were the real agressive kitted ones, subtle was left to the Aero/16S/SPG models.

See, now the kit doesn't look so silly once in black.

Ahh, right.

I was just thinking of the job to rebuild itself. Didn't figure in that it'd be so hard to remove it.

my thought as well - it looks like a different car (almost)

Supposedly, some of the bearing, gears and synchros etc are actually standard GM parts, even though the box was in use 10 years before the GM buyin.

The power steering rack is a standard GM part. As Saab were a fairly small volume maker, they tended to license or buy things in.

Things like the joint venture to license the 4 pot engine, along with triumph from its original designer, and using the Cologne V4 (rather than the essex, and making it work), and the two stroke used in earlier models.

Being so unique, the last new 900 left the factory 11 years ago, and had marginally stronger bearings and pinions, but the earliest one is nearly if not more than 30 years old now.

All the 99 and 900 gearboxes are based on the casing of the original 99

4 speed gearbox at between 100 and 120BHP, obviously it weekened it by squeezing in an extra gear, because everything internally had to be squeezed together to make space, so bearing and gears got thinner and wore quicker, plus the final 900 rubies were making 185BHP on specially modified APCs, and they were still using a variation of the box with some slight reworking, when even Saab themselves originally said that a front wheel drive car wouldn't practically be expected to handle more than 170BHP earlier.

No excuse.

Remember the 75 'box is effectively the one out of the Alfetta 1.6. OK, so it always had 5 gears as standard, but it went on to handle 3 times that power with only the usual Wop synchro problems.

The 75 wasn't made by a weird Swedish car manufacturing outfit that only seemed to release about 2 models over the course of 30 years or so.

I'd still rather get in a Plane built by SAAB than one made by Alfa Romeo. (c:
