That was a nice touch

Cluckin' bell, you didn't take long to get all 'Lord of the Manor'.

Well they are Italian heh.

But Liverpool didn't look like scoring at the end, and to be fair, their goal was a mile offside so they can't really complain about the AC goal heh.

Ooooo these grapes are sour ;-) MUFC playing against the Milan that played last night would've won quite comfortably I reckon. They just didn't seem up for it at all, whereas Liverpool seemed up for it, but out of sorts. Or something. Still, we'll never know.

Who lost at Old Trafford and only won at home due to a patched up defence with not one first choice defender fixed.

You were only in a position to possibly pull level 'cos all the officials missed a clear off-side when Kuyt scored.

Your side should be ashamed of themselves. They're gone from being the top team in the country to being a one-off Ron Atkinson style cup specialists in less than a generation.

Immaterial. Teams can only play the best squad they've got. Luck then enters into it for everyone.

They also missed a blatant handball so all's fair.

I don't quite get what you're saying here.

There's only one English team who could possibly lay claim to being better than AC - that would be the team that beat them this season.

Not deliberate, therefore, not an issue.

We'll be back.. hopefully sooner rather than later.

The large number of cups we've won in the last few years just isn't up to our old standards.

At least this year we've finally got some money to spend.

Rafa has spent more money than Fergie in recent years, and he's spent too much on average (at best) players. (Crouch, Bellamy etc)

United's transfer activity last summer was a net profit.

If you want to win the league again, it'll take more than money - you need to get shot of the Spanish clown ASAP.

I rate Rafa. I firmly believe he's the best manager in the Premiership, and one of the best in Europe.

Bwahahahaha.

He's proven himself to be tactically inept and absolutely useless in the transfer market.

He sold his soul to the devil for Euro success, but all that has done is paper over the cracks, 'cos he's taken Liverpool further away from the Premiership crown than anyone else.

He's had the Euro success that no other English team has had a sniff at while he's been in England though.

Ferguson threw away a chance at a few cups not so long ago by concentrating on the league. Rafa at least goes for the big one.

The 'big one' isn't a KO cup competition.

The 'big one' is the one you want more than any other, but no manager has delivered for you for 18 years.

The 'big one' is the one your manager has given up on, knowing he'll never deliver it, so he can chase the small hope of another European Cup win.

He bought himself some time in 2005. Another season without a title and he'll be gone.

There's only one competition worth winning and that's the domestic league. Anything else is 'nice to win' - but the league will always come first.

That's where the money and the prestige is.

It'll complete the set nicely, true enough. It'll sit well in the trophy cabinet next to our Champions League trophy.

We'll see.

Nope, he's here for at least another 5 years, probably more.

It only comes first to teams that can't win the Champions League.

Don't forget that Man U are still nowhere near as successful a team as Liverpool, 18 league titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA cups (ok, you've got 11),

7 league cups and many more.

We've also won more trophies than any other English team since 2000.

Reply to

No, it comes first to any self-respecting team.

The true measure of success is consistently banging in results over a league season. Not riding your luck in cup competitions.

The only reason Liverpool were where they were this year is because UEFA have rigged the competition not only to allow far too many teams to compete, but also to stage things so 'big' clubs get to the latter stages.

League cups mean nothing.

18 titles will be overtaken before Liverpool win another.

European trophies are nice, but there have been 2 events in history that have hampered United. First was Munich '58 and second was the stupid forigners rule that forced SAF to play 2 different teams for domestic and Euro games back in the early 90s.

All knock-out lotteries.

Granted, you have a great cup team there, but that's a poor showing for a club of Liverpool's stature. Unfortunately, whilst Rafa is in charge, it's all the club will achieve. He'll never win the Premiership.

Are they?

9 out of 16 says they're not. Especially when that run includes 2 doubles and a treble.

I've been hearing this from Liverpool fans for the past 18 years and god knows how many managers.

Keep dreaming.

Rafa will never compromise a cup run to mount a long term challenge for the title. He gave up on the 2006/7 title chase in October 2006.
