The cutting edge of cocking about

IMHO, that was the best TG yet.

Especially the ski-jumping Mini. Had me in tears of laughter.

Was the snow-mobile jump faked?...... I'm not sure.

Agree, that was just so funny, the way it stopped to was very very amusing

I wondered that. I suspect there are crazy enough people out there who do this.. But they didnt show much of it.

Fuck, went down the pub and missed it. Anyone know if it is repeated?

And for those of us who would rather set the video / PVR and watch it in the comfort of our lounge?

Presumably you recorded it earlier?

I don't think so... because if you noticed, it did the smaller jump to the right, rather than the monster one the Mini piled down.

Top entertainment... and aye, best TG yet I reckon especially as they showed the Evo vs Toboggan piece, again. :-D

Xbox media centre, cheap modded xbox, wireless connection to server upstairs - sorted.

I got a £40 Xbox, modded it (can be done cheaply, but I got a £60 package which included a funky front panel with USB ports and LCD display for track and so forth), and an old Dlink DWL2100AP (one of the few access points that seems to work just fine as an Ethernet Bridge - most either don't work or just are tricky to setup; and for some reason 'proper' ethernet bridges are insanely expensive compared to access points).

Works brilliantly. Seems to handle most filetypes, and is perfectly happy streaming a 700Mb AVI (got 147Gb of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 episodes) from the Mac G5. Plays well on TV.

iTunes sharing doesn't work though, which is odd.

Is there a repeat? I was forced to watch Mrs Bleeding Marpell on the otherside by the Missus!! Been putting my toys back in the pram all day.

I *think* someone mentioned that it's due to be repeated on Saturday at some point. Though I'd check the listings on Tuesday, around 7pm, just in case, as that's when the repeat normally is.

I've got an Xbox waiting for that treatment - but then the computer and the TV in the living room have DVI and it's therefore running the TV as a second monitor in ATI theatre mode. Might still do the Xbox and use it in the bedroom - but the telly up there is a measly 20 inches and not widescreen - how annoying is that.

Might get around to upgrading the PC from win 2k to XP MCE and use it as a PVR - sad thing is the gadget freak that I am I already have a Pace Twin doing TV recording so it's just more extravagance. Just installed a nice MCE PC for a client though and it is quite cool.

now that was entertainment.

Guns, snow, fast cars, rockets, wanton destruction of suzukis, cocking about. How can anyone criticise top gear?

Luddite.

The proper way, of course, is for your only WinTel box to be a silent media centre 'cube' system, controlled via Remote Desktop from a real computer.....
