They're like bloody buses

For ages you're scouring the adverts sites (autotrader, ebay, adtrader etc etc..) for rare cars you might quite fancy and then a load come along like buses.

In the last week or two I've come across about 3 or 4 A6 TDI Quattro Estates (same as mine but with quattro) for sensible money (i.e. around £6k) - one of them was quite near me, looked immaculate from the pictures and only had

80k on the clock, and in the last month or three there must have been a good 2 or 3 quite nice looking Carlton 24v Diamond Estates on ebay (one on there at the moment). Tempted as I am (I might even pop over and have a look at this one on ebay), I don't think I could drag myself away from the Audi just yet, not even for a quattro (I probably wouldn't drive it hard enough to appreciate the quattro and the extra economy of the 2wd is nice), and it's nice to have a car that does 700 miles from a £58 tankful, doing 90-100mph most of the way to work and back and driving like I stole it on the A roads :-) I sure wouldn't get that from a 24v Carlton!

I thought you liked the TDI quattro? They're not that bus like, surely?

Bus-like in that you wait for ages for one, then loads come along at once - I've seen a good 3 or 4 advertised recently, some on ebay, some on autotrader - one of the ones on Autotrader looked immaculate from the photos, was well priced at £6k, was only half an hour away from me, and only had about 80k on the clock. Probably sold by now (it's not showing up on searches any more), but to be honest I don't know if I could be bothered with the hassle of selling mine privately (where with a bit of effort I could easily get a decent amount more than I'd get for it on part-ex) and buying another one, plus the fwd version is more economical, and actually a bit quicker as well - yeah, I'll stick with what I've got for now.
