You don't want a ctr than as the suspension is harsh but I suppose they're at least easy to get into. Nice engine though but the Cupra R feels faster unless you're really pushing. They're relatively comfortable, certainly better than a golf or a3 and a much nicer place to be in than an octavia. They're a lot faster than a 150 bhp golf as well.

I've driven the CTR and haven't ever really noticed harsh suspension, and we don't have the smoothest of roads round here heh. To be fair, the 150bhp was only quoted cos it was the closest thing to a Leon I'd driven heh. It was disappointing for a 1.8T to say the least.

I spent a nice couple of hours today poncing about in a Bentley Turbo R. Mate of mine just paid £21k for it (93 'K' plate, 12,300 miles from new, utterly unmarked) *That's* the way to drive on a long run.

I'm driving it to Southern Spain in the next few months, that'll be an annoying few days.

civic type r is a nice motor (if you watch the oil they use a bit if kept in the vtec) have you thought about a Mini Cooper S? they're a right giggle. i hated them at first but driven a couple now and they are a laugh!

also why not look into an import integra? the integra is something i've considered

or maybe a 200SX? they're getting old and harder to find a low millage one and the stats are a bit poor but nothing a cheap tweak can't sort!

i personally really want another MR2 turbo or an MX5 turbo once done with the BM :) or a 350Z if cheap enough!

Yes that's true. Both are great engines. The Cupra R is arguably better everyday, but the Civic Type R just keeps going where the Cupra R gives up.

Part of a hot hatch is snagging two ratios down and booting it to the red line. The Cupra R isn't as much fun from this perspective... it doesn't feel that it needs this behaviour.

I've been having a shot of an S2000 today. My back is fine, never gives me problems, but I don't know if it could handle an S2000 every day. I'm not sure my license could handle an S2000 every day either.

Aye I've heard that, and the Vtec stops engaging to prevent damage if the oil is getting low, nice touch that I thought :)

I have strongly and repeatedly considered an Integra DC-5 Type R yea, I'll wait till a little nearer the time and maybe get a cheeky insurance quote...

I find them a bit ugly TBH, the later import only ones were nice mind, but they fetch a hell of a premium.

Can't get a 350Z in my price range without it been a Pov spec import.

Obviously it would be visiting Bell Auto Services in York within a month to get the proven 260bhp remap :-) The Cupra R that is.

Did the sound above 6,000rpm make you do sex wee? I've never driven one, naturally a test drive will be required before making an objective decision. This is why I don't wanna test the 147 GTA - because I just *know* it's a bad idea, but it's gonna be amazing to drive...

Gay, fwd, small on the inside, big on the outside. More so than a 206 or mr2 mk2

Very nice but expensive for what you get and the insurance was surpassingly expensive. They're also expensive to tune and fwd.

They're cheap though. A reasonable s14 can be had for around £2k or a s14a which looks much better but with the same performance for around £3k. If you want better looks then a s15 but they seem to be around £10k and offer little extra performance running on uk fuel. I picked a s14 as I didn't care about the looks and just wanted cheap rwd fun. A full exhaust with decat and a performance filter (the filter probably makes little difference judging on mine) will take it to around 240-270 bhp so you're talking decent performance for less than £2.5k. Insurance is also cheap at around £450 with the mods (exhaust, filter, boost controller and alloys) declared at 26, full ncb in a medium risk postcode.

I fancied a mr2 but they're just to small as there's no realistic way to fit a mountain bike in one. Another point is you should really try a rwd car at some point as once you've driven one you probably won't want to go back to fwd. I'd say fwd is generally quicker but rwd is much more fun. Have you considered a supra?

I was aiming a bit newer than a S14/14a really - don't really care if it's FWD or RWD. The S15 is very, very nice but the insurance is mental. And where does one get parts for stuff like that and the DC5?

I have vaguely considered a Supra, they're started to look a bit date IMHO and finding a decent, none thrashed, none 'Yea it's got 600 brake mate honest' one is tricky heh. Also I don't want an auto.

We're getting a little ahead of ourselves though heh, I have the 206 till September, so I can't realistically start shopping till August, and 3 of those months will be taken recovering from surgery which may or may not impact on what I can be comfy in. I quite want a VX220, but I just can't see me abused body agreeing heh.

Heh, if you drive one, you'll want one. The 147 GTA is the end of *anyone's* licence. The 164 V6 sounds great, the 75 V6 sounds amazing, but a 147 GTA with a race pipe is something to die for.

If you've heard a well tuned Ferrari 246 Dino at full cry you'll know the sound, but the rate the Alfa revs seems a lot quicker and makes it seem less stressed at the same time.

Impressive sounding things... but you need a less restrictive pipe on 'em.
