I speak from experience of being pulled by an unmarked plod bike..... thought I'd left him for dead, but he was just giving me enough rope to hang myself before _very_ rapidly closing in on me.

Bit of a different situation. Unmarked cars/bikes tend to be quick. This was a bog standard patrol car.

How do you know theres no other traffic to hit? You dont know theres no traffic round the next bend till you've done it (in the day that is). Thats why night time country lane driving is actually safer.

Must be warmer down there than it is up here. Last night at midnight it was getting frosty. Frost can be surprisingly slippery. My mate who screamed "THERE'S A WALL" several times a second on one corner last winter will tell you just how slippy :P. Thank god for verges. Of course, the mate in question had said "we're not going very quickly" 30 seconds earlier...

Yea, I was biking to work at 5.30am this morning and it was slightly frosty, altho the roads weren't too ba. It was *fk'ing* cold tho :)

The end of nighttime loony driving season is nigh ):. Still, got sliding around in the snow to look forwards to :P..

Bog off, this is the *beginning* of the loony driving season. This is just about the right time to treat the back roads of North Wales as my playground :-D

Fresh snow is the best - you have just enough grip to be able to drive if you want to, and just enough so slides in a FWD car (which obviously is what i have) are fun and recoverable.
