Wiring Loom Issues - Calibra

Hi all,

This is my first post and I could do with some advice on fitting my head unit, I have just bought a 1996 2.0 16V Cally and have a JVC head unit to fit. my problem is that the multi-plug in the Cally is a different configuration from the socket on the head unit. They are both 16 pin but the configuration is different, is there an adaptor that is available??

Any advice gratefully received!!

All the best

Chris

yup and you'll probably find it won't remember radio presets once you plugged the adapter in, you need to swap the wires so red goes in yellow and yellow into red, think that's right

yeah, you need what's called a harness adapter. it converts the loom from the standard vauxhall forward to the ISO standard, adopted now by most manufacturers. as Vamp says, you may find it won't remember various settings because of the way the loom is setup, so you might need to play about with the yellow and red live feeds until you get it to remember your presets...you may also find once this happens that your stereo operational even with the key removed and ignition off...only on a shit vauxhall have i experienced this though...my old astra was s**te! lol

Thanks to all for answers. The problem is not actually the Connector on the car, somewhere down the line someone has plonked and ISO adaptor on. The problem is that the JVC head unit has a different plug configuration (2sets of 8 pins instead of 4 sets of 4) and I forgot to take off the JVC specific adaptor when I sold the car (spazzer!!!).

Anyhoo the nice guy in Halfords reckons they can get an ISO-to-JVC 16-pin from JVC so should be all OK. (I'll keep an eye on the presets issue though - thanks for that little gem)

Thanks again for your help!!!!!!!!
