Wrong size carb...

What would be the effect of putting the carb from a larger engine onto a smaller one? Namely:

Cruising - richer or leaner? Acceleration enrichment - more or less? Full throttle - richer or leaner?

Only after ballpark - i.e. will it do any harm putting one and driving it to the local rolling road beforehand? We're talking a 2.0 carb on a 1.6 engine.

No it wouldn't. It'd just run rich throughout all the above. The only problem comes if the internal diameter of the carb is alot larger. What happens then is that the airflow through it on the smaller engine isn't sufficient enough for it to work properly.

The internal carb size is irrelevant -it's an SU HIF44 (used on everything from a 1300 to a 2 litre). I'd prefer a bit rich as it's used on a turbo car anyway...Short term usgae won't harm it, then?

No. The worst that could happen is that the sparkplugs get fouled up a bit. Hardly the end of the world.

It runs, it idles smooth as a CVH can (yes...FORD CVH ON AN SU!!!)

Dizzy? Oh, the thing that triggers the RS Turbo ECU that runs the ignition...

If it was over fuelling enough, It could cause Bore wash! Borewash = Fecked piston rings and bores! Not fun!
