03 Cobra Noise

Guys:

There is a groan (a grind?) from my 03 cobra when under light to medium throttle at high gear / low speed combinations. It sounds funny. I'm not sure what the best explanation is, but if this is a common thing, you probably know what I'm talking about. So is this normal, or something I need to have checked out?

Thanks,

Mike

Get it checked out. Anything that can be described as a groan/grind doesn't sound normal. Mine certainly doesn't do that and I've been around a couple of others and never heard anything similar.

If it's coming from under the center console it could be the throw out bearing. I'm aware of several '03's that have had those replaced in the past few months.

well, I thought I was just lugging it - but it sounds 'different' than other car's I've had when I was lugging it. I know, don't do it and its bad on valves and bearings and gives funny stresses and carbon buildup and I don't intend to do it - BUT, I'm trying to figure out of this is the early manifestation of a problem

I think Mike is exactly right. Mine does the same thing, it doesn't sound like..say.. a pickup when you lug, it does in fact make a groaning metallic sound.

It's the car groaning at you: "Oh PUHlease! Will you pay attention, I can't go this slow in 4th gear!" ;¬D Kate
