Anyone installed Flaming River manual rack FR1890 - 88GT?

Hey guys,

I am thinking of buying a Flaming River manual rack kit (FR1890) for my 88GT Convertible. I was wondering if anyone has driven a car with one of these kits installed?

My steering rack needs replacing sometime soon and I get really angry when I have to replace a PS hose or repair a leaky fitting. Even if does only happen once in a blue moon. I figured the maunal rack would eliminate that and give a bit crisper feel with the steering. I don't mind the difficulty turning the wheel at parking speeds. From the reading I have done on corral.net it is not so bad.

So has anyone driven a car with this kit, what did you think?

Ever seen the kit? How does the quality look?

Anyone ever installed the kit? Level of difficulty on 1-10?

Regards, Andy

Yes and it is a little more difficult to turn the wheel when sitting still. Once moving though it really feels good. You will feel a much better response, especially if you go with one of the road race ratios they sell. I got it on my car now and don't miss the power steering at all.

Great to hear. Yours is the 15:1 ratio opposed to the 18:1 ratio?

Did you do the install? If so how difficult was it.

Andy

Yes mine is 15:1 and no I didn't do the install but it wasn't difficult. It will require a tire alignment afterwards.
