180,I didnt think it would qualify as a restoration, thats why i put semi on it.I thought restoration meant taking it down to the shell with nothing left on it,and then reassembling every part. If i had put just restoration and left off the semi bit,i thought i would get some one telling me that its not a proper restoration :0

not the entire world, mate, just part of it ! And like i said before, something is only obvious if you know the answer. Someone also said i'm a newbie, thats fair enough,i know very little about the subject. You are correct ,i could have googled M/T ,and how many different matches would I have got? Loads.I thought the quickest and easiest way would be to ask someone here who knew what it meant, and get a simple straightforward answer, which i got(almost)immediately.

"Restoration" actually implies a return of the car to its original as-manufactured state, with factory options permitted. Vehicles rebuilt with some aftermarket parts are currently known as "restomods" or "restified".
Anyway, so far so good. What engine is going in this?

Well, then, squeeze some testosterone out of them and come up with a nic that has more Attitude than "me". Dark Horse or 2Fine69 or hoozmikky or something. Mustangs aren't for the limp of wrist, you know.

Ah, a truly lovely part of England. I'm from about as far from Cornwall as you can get and still be in England, Tyneside. I reside in Canada now. BTW. M/T means there's nothing in them...just kidding! ;^) StuK

Ooooooooo, That were a low blow, CJ (cute, though). Ol' Smokey likely forgot more than most of us will ever know.
Now if I could ever figure out who Steve Saleen is or what a Jack Rousch is......
A source of constant amusement are those young lions who jump into the deep end of the pool long before they realize that swimming lessons might have been a good idea.

Yes Mate, You are publishing your Usenet postings to the entire world, not just the few people who post here. The posts stay around on various servers all over the planet, pretty much indefinitely too...
My response was not to your original question, Mate. It was to your third post, the one where you were trying to explain your second question "Who is he ?" when you were told "Mickey Thompson"
Funny when I did a quick search on

for "MickeyThompson" I got all kinds of relevant returns, Results 1 - 10 of about223,000 for Mickey Thompson. in a total of 0.19 seconds. There really are very few questions that have not already been asked and answered on the internet.

Long time since i was up that way,i was probably about 9 at the time so i dont really remember much about it.You a Magpie? I guess you know Bobby got the bullet.
And dont worry about the just kidding bit.I knew when i started the project that i was a little fish in a big pond,so i expected a certain amount of ribbing along the way.

Wow,2 positive posts,I was beginning to wonder :-) Thanks Mike and CJ
CJ,it has the original 351 Windsor, and it was rebulit about 12,000 miles ago,by whom i dont know, the guy i got it from said it was the guy he got it from who did it,but who knows. I'm only making some subtle changes like different steering wheel,(the one that it came with was from a Ford truck or something)and it's not like i'm going to whack a great big body kit and 20 inch bling bling rims and stuff. It had the intake and carb replaced at some point, and of course, the MT valve covers(I'm never gonna hear the end of that one :-) The outside will look fairly original(apart from the incorrect colour) with some OEM parts and some repros.I dont thik its ever going to be a show car,but i dont think it'll be too bad for a first attempt.

You must have a production background. I was taught MT meant "empty" over
25 years ago in a chemical plant. Saw it all over the production logs and asked what it meant in a crowded control room. Boy howdy, did I get blasted outta there!

I thought Smokey moonlighted as the "bear in the air" and the"bear behind the billboard" I didn't know he was a singer too! Busy little bear wasn't he! Kate

Hey ANdrew, This group will give you a little ribbing now and then, but it's all pretty much in the spirit of good humor. I'm thinking that you are not in the States, right?

Hehe, yeah i know, but i guess people just couldnt resist it. Yeah i'm actually in the US,but i've only been here since last year you see,so to me it's a whole new ball game.A lot of the terminology is different over here,as are parts, equipment, brand names, etc, which is why i asked the question which started all this off. A lot of the stuff out here we've never heard of over there,so there's a lot to get used to.

Well, the truckers used to *think* it was our pal Smokey behind them billboards, but it was really his evil twin, Fuzzy, sometimes accompanied by his barnyard friend, Officer O.N. Kerr.

Actually, we used to mark the Acetylene and O2 tanks MT in chalk when they were of course finished so some dim bulb wouldn't reload the torches with a used cylinder! So I guess it is a chemical term in many ways. StuK

Sly devil he was. I have his book, which is a must have for gearheads.

Now, if you had said "Touche, and AWAAAAYYY!!!!!!!", I'd be really impressed.
