OT: Good news!!!

However.....

I can always replace funds, roof over my head, clothing, furnishings, Cds, etc..... HOWEVER, now that I have the 65 Fastback..... maybe a prenup isn't a bad idea just to cover the car.... : ) LOL

Fortunately, though it would be nice otherwise, I'm on my own now. Got the house, the dog, the cars, the bank accounts, the works, because the second spouse suffered a mental illness and signed everything over. Pure luck on the material side, pure BAD luck on the emotional side.

By the way, while divorce run 50% (actually, I think it's a bit higher now), for second marriages it runs somewhere around 75% during the first 5 years. Make it past there and it very likely to got the distance. Mine was 15 years before he manic depression killed it along with her relationship with her son and her family.

But, my daughter says, "don't worry, Dad... third times a charm....". RIGHTTTTTTTT! I think it's more like combat... three on a match and the sniper has you zeroed in.... LOL : )

They did at one time, and perhaps to people such as yourself as well as me they still do, but that isn't the norm anymore. To love, honor & obey have sort of gone by the wayside as well.

Exactly, once you begin planning for something, it will usually come true.

That's the problem in a nutshell.

married,

Bingo. There are people who still believe that though. OTOH, I wonder why some people get married in the first place. Just because it's something to do, like go on a vacation?

Yeah that's the ticket. Let's get married so we can get some nice presents, go on a decent honeymoon/vacation, and if I don't like the way you scratch your ass prior to going to bed I can always divorce ya. Repeat as required.

What is the old C&W song about buying a woman you hate a house every five years instead of getting married?

I see you're providing that irrefutable evidence for your own claims. Have you looked up the definition of hypocrisy yet?

Where is your proof for your claim above? I guess we both sling the same bullshit.

Spike, if you're talking about Michael, you've got him all wrong. I've known him for years, and he's a guy you'd want to have as your next door neighbor.

If you're not talking somebody else, sorry to have interrupted.

I'm not sure what dog you have in this fight but to put my position in layman's terms, if Mr. Childers wants to set the rules of verbal combat between us then I expect him to follow them too.

As a side note, how you leaped from read> You argue your points quite well. Extremely similar to the format used

Then none taken. Here's my take on this whole little episode between Mr. Childers and myself. Eric starts a good natured thread that was intended to inform us of his engagement which the bulk of initial responses were positive. Mr. Childers throws a bucket of slop in the mix with his prenup comment. I don't respond as I really didn't have an ax to grind regarding his comment.

Joe then made a response to him and then I made a response to Joe. Now my response was mostly a tongue-in-cheek response to Joe that happens in ramfm numerous times a day on many topics. It is kind of like sitting in a bar having a few drinks with friends and sharing mostly meaningless banter. I'm sure you've done this and I would even wager Mr. Childers has done the same. Now Joe knows I'm just spouting off. My definition of spouting off means making a remark that has a mixture of exaggeration and truth. Joe and I have "spouted off" to each other quite a bit over the years. He can recognize it easily and knows I'm no looking to have my views published in a journal as irrefutable truth.

Now here comes Mr. Childers wearing his Harvard Debate Team jacket, fresh from the dry cleaners, asking me to provide proof to back up my tongue-in-cheek remark. Now why he felt the need to take a tongue-in-cheek response I made to Joe and turn it into a pissing match I can't say. Now maybe I'm the only one here that sees the irony in him requesting me to provide credible statistics to back up my claim while he doesn't bother to show any credible statistics to show I am wrong. Maybe he just plain doesn't like me for whatever reason and felt the need to put me in my place. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but don't come at me with the lame ass, hypocritical logic that he used. We can spend the next three days analyzing this mess like we are Sigmund Freud wannabees but my country boy common sense tells me Mr. Childers, for whatever reason, has a cob up his rectum and he needs to remove it so he is not so easily irritated by any future "spouting off" I may indulge in. ;)

Well it is good to know that I am not the only "old" feller here in this nest of whimper snappers. I would trade war stories some time, but memories are not quite as found as yours. My fish usually were throwing grenades back. Duck hunting with fully automatic fire weapons was an interesting diversion, but sort of took all the sport out of it. I ended up doing a full bit and retired in `94. Well at least from that rat race, I then joined another one chasing the all mighty dollar. I knew I should have never had kids in my 30's. I'm never going to get all these damn student loans paid off.

I like that first line. I've gotten rid of the mirrors because of I am not what I see in the reflections anymore.

Since I stayed on so long I am the member of many a hunting club, some very selective. After all it was the Selective Service that invited me to join.

You meet the nicest people on the Group W bench.

It is funny that now that they are talking about starting up Selective Service Boards again and are looking for folks to man it, being retired Military I am ineligible to sit on the local Draft Board. Ain't that a crock? They afraid I might make everybody go?

Personally I hope they do bring back the draft, it might be the only thing that gets us out of the mess in the Middle East. As long as the cannon fodder is volunteers there isn't going to be much public out-roar over this quagmire. It is a shame they wouldn't let me & mine clean-up the mess back in during GW I when we were over there and had the support of the world & the Iraqi people. Now instead of liberators, we are just plain old invaders. Now my two nephews are doing what I should have finished.
